So you have seen all that Boho romantic stuff out there and you want to duplicate it but don’t know how. What is boho style? It is and ecclectic warm mix of ethnic and therefore global and other styles put together in surprising ways. Bright colors and earthy items all make up this look. Inspired by hippies it is a free form of style. It is warm and inviting and the exact opposite of minimalist. Boho is artistic and expressive
1. Fabric
It all starts with fabric baby. Prints, textures, embroideries is what makes it all work. Mix fabrics and patterns – the more the merrier. Handmade textiles are best but good printed substitutes can work too
Add pillows throws and even fabric shades
2. Bring in the Exotic
Boho is exotic and unusual. It always looks like it came from a faraway place. To me it speaks of luxury and fun and travel.
It also speaks of diversity and freedom. Freedom to make whatever choices we want within reason. Boho style has no real rules. It is a mix of things that make us feel good and therefore give us a warm fuzzy feeling. For me it is the use of natural fabrics and materials that also brings in the Boho.
3. Make it unusual
I also like to take unusual objects and turn them into something that they were not originally such as this door from India which we turned into a coffee table. I can honestly say it was a collaborative effort.
4. Make it Organic and Natural
I love using natural elements in a Boho Design. Items that have truly not been altered by any chemicals or any processing other than naturally. This could also include fabrics that have been dyed using with natural dyes
5. Make it Colorful
I love rich colors to be used with my Boho madness, Red, Purple, Royal blue, Gold, Silver, Bronze.
Whatever you do and however you put it together keep it fun and don’t be afraid to experiment and add texture and color.
