MASTER BEDROOM MAKEOVER
I am so happy to once again,to be a guest designer on the One Room Challenge for Fall 2020. This time I am doing a Master Bedroom Makeover in my own home. If this is your first time reading my blog I can explain a little. The One Room Challenge is and event that occurs twice a year – Spring and Fall. Now in its eighteenth season this event has created over 4400 rooms from start to finish in 6 weeks. Read more about it here. This event was started by Linda Weinstein in 2011. Every One Room Challenge features 20 Design influencers who redo a room and document their progress week by week for a the challenge, and also several guest participants. Read all the ORC designer blogs.
Better Homes and Gardens are the media sponsors for this event.
What I’ve been up to…
This was a very busy week for me with all my work projects. I focused this week on getting things cleaned up so the bedroom could be emptied out for installation of the newly arrived flooring. It was tempting to put all my junk in a box and move it to my already messy closet. I refrained and became mindful of what I want to keep or toss out. It was not really a Marie Kondo moment. I have lived with a messy nightstand since we moved in more than a year ago. It is really bad Feng Shui to sleep with all the mess next to your head, or for that matter with junk in boxes under your bed. For me this Master bedroom makeover means that I start with a clean slate in all aspects.

Sad to say this is what I started with
Everything changes!
Did I mention yet that changing out or redoing our Master bedroom involves changing out your whole house? Or it seems like that? I need to move the current queen size bed in our room to the guest bedroom . The bed in the guest bedroom wants to be moved into our son’s room. This is going to involve a lot more than just moving a bed.
Lexi, my dog did not like having the room cleaned out. I think she was worried we were moving without her.
Our bedroom is ready for flooring to be installed! Once again, thanks to Beyondfloors.net
Our new custom King bed was delivered to my receiver on Tuesday. I went by there to go and look at it. Wowza! I am blown away. It is so gorgeous! Thank you Kristin Drohan Collection. Can’t wait to get it delivered on Tuesday! Thanks to Starfine Furniture in Galveston for helping me with a really fine mattress too!
The fan
We changed out the fan in our bedroom with a better looking one. We had the biggest debate about whether we should wall mount the remote or not, since we are apt to lose it. If lost, we would have no way of controlling the fan and light. After much debating, the remote became a target to lose.
What’s left?
We are in the home stretch now. I had the curtain rod installed and the curtains hung but I had to remove the curtains since I did not want them covered in dust from removing the carpet. (Backwards I know!)
I just could not resist seeing what they looked like! Still looking for lamps, bedding and rugs. the perfect quilt has just not shown itself to me.
I will probably get new chairs as my mom’s chairs are not the right scale with my new bed.
This is going to be a busy week. Hoping it will all come together! This is the final stretch of our One Room Challenge for Fall 2020 – Master Bedroom Makeover.
