Spring is here and let’s face it some of us are tired of staying at home. Look no further than your back yard to bring some respite because that is where the joy is!

My philosophy is always to make everything as fun and colorful as you can. There is so much color and fun in nature and nothing like bringing it all together in a joyful colorful arrangement on your back porch.

We love barbeque!

My family loves to barbeque – not exactly the word we use as we come from the land of veld and vast expanses. Where we are from there is never quite enough meat on the fire, not quite enough time to enjoy the outdoors and there is more sunshine than rain. We have mastered the art of a barbeque aka “braai” as we call it. It is possible for us to make anything on a fire and make it taste good. We even make versions of a grilled cheese and stew on a fire.

The outdoors is where it all is.

Gratitude is everything

The times that we live in have made aware that each day is a gift. I choose to surround myself with what makes me happy whether it is music, colors or joyful arrangements.

Now for the fun!

I am currently getting ready to redo my back porch and part of my garden as a guest on the One Room Challenge. The challenge is scheduled to begin on May 7th 2020 and last 6 weeks and the progress will be posted in 6 blog posts. Here is link explaining what that is. It is a challenge to redo my back porch as now it is somewhat boring to me and I have so much DIY work ahead of me. The part of my garden that I am redoing is mostly in the shade or part sun. I wrote a blog post a few weeks ago on some of the plants I want to focus on. Read it here. I am so excited!

Here is my back porch..

There is one things that I truly love on my porch and that is the tall vase in the back. It is the Helter Skelter vase from Seasonal Living which is 51 inches high and 36 inches wide.

Here is some more fun stuff that I might incorporate in my back porch

  1. Outdoor lamp 2. Faux Boxwood topiary dogs 3. Set of green planters 4. Turquoise planter
